Today is Groundhog Day, and this reminds me of our visit to Woodstock IL in December, where the movie Groundhog Day was filmed. There are events today in Punxsutawney PA and Woodstock IL for the event.
Here you can view the schedules of events in both cities:
Groundhog Day on 2 February is an annual tradition in the United States. It is the day that Groundhog Phil comes out of his hole after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow. If he sees his shadow, he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of winter and returns to his hole. However, if the day is cloudy and the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow, then Phil takes it as a sign of spring and stays above ground.
Phil will make his prediction today on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney at 7:00 am (ET) today. Tune in for the live webcast at http://groundhog.visitpa.com/

Funny, I didn’t even know that the Animal is called Groundhog. In germany we call it “Murmeltier”.
I’ve seen the Movie “Und täglich grüßt das Murmeltier”.
They also Translate the Title sometimes. I love that Movie.
Should be fun to visit the place where it was filmed.
