Rembrandt’s Nightwatch in Duckburg

This year’s 400th anniversary of Rembrandt van Rijn is celebrated with exhibits and special events throughout Amsterdam, Leiden, and of course Duckburg! Last week’s issue of Dutch Donald Duck Weekly was centered around the Dutch painter, with its own version of one of Rembrandt’s most famous works, The Nightwatch.

Issue 21 of 2006 of Donald Duck Weekly featured a special Rembrandt cover, an Uncle Scrooge story titled Hunt for the Duckwatch, and a two-page spread of a Disney version of the Nightwatch:

Later this year the “Duckwatch” will be displayed at Rembrandt exhibits at Schiphol Airport and the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. The duck painting is also being used on billboards and train stations throughout the Netherlands. Publisher Sanoma is still negotiating with the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam to display the Duckwatch near the real Nightwatch in its museum.

I’ve recently been to Amsterdam and I visited the Rijksmuseum; it was in fact diplayed for sale there. So I guess it should be available somewhere else, too…

The Duckwatch poster (49,2 x 69,2 cm) is for sale on the Dutch store of Donald Duck Weekly, but the store only sells to addresses in the Netherlands.
