2002 The year 2002 We started 2002 by going to Evenstad and Oslo, Norway in February, followed by weekend trips to Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Trier in Germany. In May we explored the island of Lesbos in Greece and hopped over to Turkey for a day. In the summer we bought a house and moved from Rotterdam to Leiden. We also made day trips to Belgium, France and Germany. [Back to index]	1/19 In February we flew into Oslo where we rented a car and drove north to Evenstad, where Amy's family comes from. We spent two nights in Hamar and then two nights in Oslo. [more photos]	2/19 In March we took a DFDS Seaways weekend trip to Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. [more photos]
3/19 In March we went to Trier in Germany for a weekend. The weather was great and we saw many nice things, including the Porta Nigra. [more photos]	4/19 In February Arthur went to the Efteling with his family.	5/19 In April we went to Leiden a few times to see if we would like to live there. We had never been there before but it seemed like a very nice city.
6/19 In May we went to the island Lesbos in Greece for 8 days. We did a lot of nice things, including a day trip to Turkey. [more photos]	7/19 In June we got a new cat tree for Arby and Alex. It was too big for our apartment but would be nice for our new house in Leiden.	8/19 In May and June we went to Leiden many times to look for houses. Every time we rented bikes and biked around the city. We made many appointments to see the insides of houses on each day and ended up seeing dozens of houses inside.
9/19 In July we decided to buy the best house we had seen so far, arranged a mortgage and signed the papers at the notary.	10/19 In June we went to Movie World in Germany.	11/19 In August we went to Amsterdam where we did a canal tour and visited the church in the attic.
12/19 In July and August we started to pack up all our stuff from the apartment in boxes that we got from the moving company.	13/19 On 12 September we moved from Rotterdam to our new house in Leiden. [more photos]	14/19 On 3 October we went to the big festival of Leiden where there was a very large kermis and lots of other activities.
15/19 In October we went to the new Disney Studios park in Disneyland Paris for two days and after that also two days to Paris itself.	16/19 In November we went to Germany twice. Once to a Chrismas in Dortmund market and once to visit our friends Mike and Sabine in Luedinghausen. Here we are on a big tower in Dortmund where we cannot see anything because of the fog.	17/19 In November we celebrate Thanksgiving with Arthur's family in Leiden with a big dinner that had a lot of American food including a turkey.
18/19 In December we went to the Winter Efteling with our friend Marco and Regina who moved to Finland shortly after.	19/19 We ended the year with our first Christmas in our new house in Leiden.
