The year 2005
In 2005 we went a weekend to Antwerp in February, in April we made a roadtrip of South Florida and in May we stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside resort at Walt Disney World. In June we went to Naples for a few days, in September we went to Hurghada for diving in the Red Sea, in October we were in Paris, November in London, and in December we visited Amy's parents in Deerfield for Christmas.

1/17 We started the year by biking to Katwijk aan Zee on 1 January and watch the traditional new year's dive in the cold North Sea.

2/17 On 23 January we visited the Space Expo of ESA in Noordwijk, where we had a personal tour of some of the buildings. Here they are testing the ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle) that will bring supplies to the International Space Station later this year.

3/17 On 26 and 27 February we went to Antwerp for the weekend and saw The Who's Tommy Musical at the Stadschouwburg.

4/17 From 21 to 29 April we made a roadtrip through Florida with Amy's parents. We swam with dolphins, canoed in the Everglades, snorkeled the coral reef and saw lots of alligators. We also visited Key West, Sanibel Island, two national parks and NASA Kennedy Space Center. Click here for more photos.

5/17 From 30 April to 6 May we stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside resort at Walt Disney World in Florida. We visited the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM-Studios, Animal Kingdom, DisneyQuest, Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon. Click here for more photos.

6/17 On 28 May we did a canoe route through the Loosdrechtse Plassen nature preserve north of Utrecht.

7/17 In May and June we redid our office / computer room and put in a real wooden floor.
|
8/17 On 27 June we went to the Arrow Rock Festival in Lichtenvoorde, where we saw Thunder; Lou Gramm the voice of Foreigher; Kansas; Crosby, Stills and Nash, Styx and Little River Band.

9/17 From 17 to 22 June we went to Naples, Italy. We visited the Campi Flegra area and the ruins of Pompeii, went to the top of the Vesuvius and around the island of Capri, swam in the Blue Grotto and saw lots of castles, churches and museums. Click here for more photos.

10/17 From Friday 5 to Sunday 7 August we drove to Calais in France and camped for two nights at St. Louis Camping in Andres. We could see the white cliffs of Dover on the other side of the Channel, and we visited Boulogne-sur-Mer and Le Touquet.

11/17 Saturday 10 September was 'open monument day' and we visited many monuments in Leiden. Here we are on top of the tower of a nearby church from where we could see our house.

12/17 From 17 to 24 September we went to Hurghada in Egypt to dive. We made two dives a day for five days with Colona Divers and saw giant morays, a sea turtle, stingrays and millions of colorful reef fish and corals. Click here for more photos.

13/17 3 October was Leids Ontzet in Leiden, an annual festival. Here is a view of the fair from the ferris wheel.

14/17 From 12 to 16 October 2005 we went to Paris for our fifth wedding anniversary. First we stayed a night at the Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris. Then we moved to Paris where we visited the Louvre and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. The weather was beautiful. See more photos

15/17 5 and 6 November was 'family weekend', and we stayed at Huttenheugte bungalow park in Drenthe.

16/17 From 18 to 20 November we went London with Easyjet, Easybus and Easyhotel. We saw Ewan McGregor in Guys and Dolls, and visited the British Museum and Natural History Museum. See more photos

17/17 In December 2005 we went to Amy's parents in Deerfield for Christmas and New Year's. We went to Woodstock, Chicago, Berwyn and Illinois Beach State Park. See more photos
