Toy Story 3 production continues anyway
Posted on February 8th 2006 in Disney movies & televisionAlong with Walt Disney Company’s first quarter results on February 6th, Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger announced that Pixar will take over production of Toy Story 3, and that Disney plans to release two Pixar films each year — an increase over Pixar’s earlier goal of one per year.
The news comes two weeks after John Lasseter had stopped production on Toy Story 3 within 24 hours of gaining creative control over all of Disney’s and Pixar’s animated film output from Disney’s takeover of Pixar. Ed Catmull and John Lasseter had announced to Feature Animation employees on Tuesday 24 January that the ‘Toy Story 3’ production would end effectively; they said that sequels should only be made if there is a really great story that demands it.
