Ehapa Verlag revives 1970s Goofy history stories

Ehapa Verlag in Germany launched a new series of hardcover books this month reprinting the Goofy history stories that were produced by the Jaime Diaz Studios in the late 1970s. These stories feature Goofy as a famous historical person. Each book prints five of these long 44-page stories. More »

Walt Disney Company Italy previews new comic series: Speed Loop

Speed LoopAt the Lucca 2006 Comics and Games fair in November, the Walt Disney Company Italy presented the first issue (‘Episodio Zero’) of a new comic book for boys. The new series is much more a cross between a manga-style comic and a video game, than your usual classic Disney comic. The exciting story is told like a true novel, interpreted in the form of a comic strip with an original graphic style. More »

Disney and Infomedia to launch Disney Adventures magazine in India

Walt Disney India has tied up with Infomedia India to launch an Indian version of Disney Adventures. Disney Adventures is currently published in the United States and Australia. The Indian version has been adapted to meet the requirements of Indian kids in the age group of 8-12. The new 100-page magazine will be published monthly from October 2006. More »

After a sudoku Disney magazine in France, Picsoudoku, the Netherlands also saw the release of a Donald Duck sudoku puzzle magazine: Suducku, a special of the series Donald Duck Puzzelpret (“Donald Duck Puzzle Fun”). The magazine has 70 puzzles and is available at stores across the Netherlands for EUR 2.95.

Round soccer ball-shaped comic book released in Germany

Lustiges Taschenbuch ExtraThis month Ehapa released a a special edition of their popular Lustiges Taschenbuch pocket series: a round-shaped 353-page comic book titled Lustiges Taschenbuch Extra Fussball-Fieber! Disney-style Sudoku Magazine in France: Picsoudoku

PicsoudukoThis month saw the release of a new title in France, filled with 182 sudoku puzzles and 16 meters of comics: Picsoudoku, a special edition of the popular monthly Picsou Magazine.

The sudoku puzzles come in all shapes and sizes, and the magazine also includes some alternative sudoku puzzles. The comic stories run in one row of panels along the bottom of each page. More »

Carl Barks’ Greatest DuckTales Stories, coming this summer from Gemstone

Carl Barks' Greatest DuckTales StoriesFollowing the DVD release of Disney’s DuckTales television series, Gemstone Publishing in the United States is releasing two special trade paperbacks titled Carl Barks’ Greatest DuckTales Stories.

The two 144-page books collect the vintage Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge adventures that were adapted to animation for DuckTales. More »

Sanoma brings Super Donald back to the Netherlands

Sanoma Uitgevers in the Netherlands will revive the popular Italian PK stories this year, with a new series titled Super Duck starting later this month. A second issue of Super Duck featuring Donald Duck as a superhero is scheduled for October. The publisher had originally introduced PK in the Netherlands in 1997, with Duck Power, but that series was cancelled from poor sales after just two issues. More »

Gemstone to publish Life of Scrooge Companion in September

Last year, Gemstone Publishing published a reprint of the original twelve chapters of Don Rosa’s epic story The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

This September, the publisher is releasing a Companion book that will include all the pre-chapters, post-chapters and in-between chapters that were missing from the first book. More »
