Official Disney DigiComics sites in UK and Italy

The United Kingdom and Italy now have a DigiComics section on their local Disney websites. The two sites can be found at disney.co.uk/digicomics and disney.it/digicomics. They are only two pages, but provide some official information about the service.

The homepage has two large features for Wizards of Mickey and Superduck:

Stan Lee and Disney working on online comic book ‘Time Jumper’

Time Jumper by Stan LeeHere’s some exciting Disney comics news: Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-Man, X-Men and Iron Man, is teaming up with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to produce a revolutionary new concept in comic book format: Time Jumper. According to the press release: “Time Jumper will become the industry’s most ambitious digital comic book series ever designed to release on multiple platforms.”

Disney also announced an extension of the deal with Stan Lee’s POW Entertainment Inc. that covers all forms of media from movies and television, to publishing, games, the internet and mobile-web.

Disney.com more popular than everexternal link

Disney.com is already the number-one family destination on the Internet, but traffic has increased steadily after its relaunch in February 2007. Last month was the site’s all-time traffic record with 23.03 million unique visitors, an increase of 24 percent above a year ago and 12 percent over July 2007. Read more

Disney buys Club Penguin

The Walt Disney Company today announced that it will buy Club Penguin for a cool $350 million. Club Penguin is by far the most popular social networking and gaming site for tweens aged 8 to 14-years-old. Disney has already redesigned Disney.com earlier this year, adding social networking, games and video. It has also been developing standalone gaming sites based on franchises like “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Bob Iger, President of the Walt Disney Company, said that Disney could “succeed online by growing organically” but that it considered Club Penguin “too good of a strategic fit” to pass up.

Universe of Comics

Universe of Comics is a new website that features an easy way to search through the vast collection of comic books, graphic novels and paperbacks available on Amazon.com. The site allows you to drill down by title, publisher, author and price. For instance, upcoming publications by Gemstone Publishing or all Uncle Scrooge comics. There is also a page where you can see a list of all the comic books that are released this week.

Micky-Maus.de Relaunched

Micky-Maus.deGerman publisher Ehapa has relaunched the official website of Germany’s weekly Micky Maus magazine, at www.micky-maus.de. The website features a fresh new look with an animated header that shows Duckburg and contains mini games. The site has many activities, including a drawing course, an interactive map of Duckburg, games, puzzles, and much more. In March, the website of monthly Lustiges Taschenbuch was also renewed. The incredible INDUCKS database

If you’re a fan of Disney comics you must know about the INDUCKS project, a worldwide database aiming to index all Disney comics ever printed in the world. Since 1994, dozens of fans around the world have been recording information about the thousands of original Disney comic stories that appear in comics, magazines and newspapers around the world, such as who wrote it, who drew it, which characters appear in it.
