Anders And & Co was launched in Denmark in March 1949 as a monthly magazine, and turned bi-weekly in 1956, and weekly in 1958. Currently the popular magazine is released on Thursdays. The magazine has (in 2006) a print-run of 90,000 and an average readership of 525,000 (approximately 10% of the population!).
Donald Duck's national popularity has carried this magazine into a solid leadership position with its entertaining comics and editorials. The Danish Donald Duck magazine, or Anders And as he is known in Denmark, is a title long-rooted in tradition. The magazine is supported by a Donald Duck club, and regular short advertising spots on television. Each week, the magazine presents brand new comic stories which are created by Egmont Creative (located in Copenhagen) at a rate of 6,000 pages per year. The stories are used in all of Egmont's Disney titles internationally and are also sold to non-Egmont Disney publishers for use in other magazines.
