After the original Phantomias series was cancelled in 1999, publisher Ehapa Verlag tried again by starting this new prestige series. But unfortunately it was cancelled after just 15 issues the next year.
In this second series each issue was bound in book-format, with better quality paper than the first series and the lettering was done by hand, compared to the computer typed dialogues of the 'old series'.
Ehapa decided to start at story number one again. The Phantomias stories, which are produced by the PK team in Italy are all part of a long continuous story. Each individual story has around 60 pages. Not to disappoint the fans of the old series, Ehapa released the first issue first in May 1999, followed by number TEN (a brand new story for German readers) in June, then number two in July, eleven in August, three in September, and so on.
The price of the new series went up from DM 4,80 to DM 9,95, clearly targetting the real fans of this popular superhero comic who don't mind paying over twice the price for the same stories.
In 2000 a special-edition #0 (number zero) came out. It was completely in black and white and featured the original first story of Phantomias entitled "How it all began". Only 2599 collector's copies were released.
