There have been three different series of Μίκυ Μυστήριο (Mickey Mystery). The series was originally launched in 1994, as a one-shot with two Italian stories by Romano Scarpa. As of January 1995. That first series ended in August 1999 after 26 issues. The second series, which featured stories from the Italian Mickey Mouse Mystery Magazine was picked up in July 2002 and last for 12 issues until May 2004. Finally in July and August 2005 two more issues from the third series came out.
The first and third series containeddetective stories of Danish origin that featured Mickey Mouse, and drew readers from all ages. These stories, that returned Mickey to his crime-fighting roots, have attracted their own audience and created their own place in Disney storytelling.
In Miky Mystirio, Mickey returns to a world of action and adventure as a clever detective, decked out in a hat and trench coat; he steps into Philip Marlow's shoes in the great tradition of the "film noir". Mickey walks the dark side of the street, digging up compelling and thought-provoking stories. The realistic and complex scenarios, the dark cinematic atmosphere, and the credible and gripping dialogues of the series added to the magazine's rapid success; it is already considered a classic.
