In 1997 Egmont announced it's joint venture with Indian Express Newspapers Ltd. in India and Egmont India was born. Commercial operations began in early 1998 with their first product, the Mickey Mouse monthly comic book.
This digest-sized Donald Duck comic was published in several languages. Three sample images are shown on the right; from top to bottom they are in: Malayalam (one of the four major Dravidian languages of South India), Kannada (predominantly spoken in the state of Karnataka in the south-west of India) and Tamil (predominantly spoken by the Tamil people in the south-east India and parts of Sri Lanka).
These three comics are estimated to be from around 2000 / 2001. It is unknown when the series was launched and how long it ran.
