Egmont Russia started publishing Disney books at the end of 1993 and, since then, has already published 11 titles in the hard cover classic format. For 1995, as well as regular reprints, five new titles are planned and most of them will have a minimum print run of 50,000 copies. Egmont Russia's latest title, The Prince and the Pauper, was such a hit that its 50,000 print run sold out in under a month! Considering that none of the full-length Disney movies has ever been shown on local TV or in Russian cinemas, this publishing success becomes all the more remarkable. In 1995, a coordinated policy regarding all Disney publications is being put into action, with the hard cover classic books being supported by similar titles in the minibook format and by activity books. The overall books program will be promoted through strong advertising campaigns in the local Disney magazines, Mickey Mouse monthly, Ducktales quarterly and the newly launched The Little Mermaid magazine. Egmont Russia has great hopes for its Disney titles and is firmly commited to increasing the success of its book program over the coming years.
