Disney comics in United States
The United States have a long history of Disney comics and several publishers have had the license of the years: Dell Comics, Gold Key, Gladstone, Disney Comics, Gemstone Publishing and currently BOOM! Studios.
BOOM! Studios obtained the license to publish Disney comics with characters from Disney/Pixar's animated feature films in January 2009. The first issues of The Incredibles and Cars came out in March 2009. A few months later, BOOM also obtained the license to publish stories with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and other classic Disney characters since Gemstone Publishing lost this license earlier in the year.
The publisher has continued long-running series like Walt Disney's Comics & Stories, Mickey Mouse and Friends and other titles starting in September 2009.
