W.i.t.c.h. Graphic Novel was launched in the United States in 2005, and each book contains two of the original W.i.t.c.h. comics as produced in Italy and published in many countries around the world. The U.S. was one of the last countries to get the comic books of this extremely popular series; in 2004 Hyperion started publishing W.i.t.c.h. chapter books, which were text adaptions of the original comic stories.
W.i.t.c.h. is a story about five ordinary girls with five extraordinary powers. Their mission is to protect the world from the evil forces of the Metaworld. To succeed, the girls have magical powers that can control the forces of nature: air, water, fire and earth.
But W.i.t.c.h. is also about the realities of growing up. The main characters are Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin (W.I.T.C.H.). Will, the leader of the group, can control and strengthen the powers of her friends. The magazine is targetted at girls aged 9 to 15.
W.i.t.c.h. was first launched here in Italy by The Walt Disney Company Italy in April 2001 and has since been reprinted in many countries around the world, from Mexico to Finland and the Philippines. Click here for an overview of all international W.i.t.c.h. publications.
